I have loved fashion and beauty for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a small town in regional Victoria there weren’t a lot of options when it came to shopping for clothes and cosmetics but that has all changed now with online shopping and social media providing endless amounts of options and being spoilt for choice.
Recently I’ve been experimenting with natural cosmetics and beauty products. Something I found completely surprising was the number of different brands and products out there, I find it comforting and inspiring that we are moving towards a back to nature approach that is not only good for us and the greater good but also for our environment and mother nature. I want to share with you some of my favourite natural, organic and ethical, fashion and beauty picks for right now.
Like many women, I spent years searching for the perfect skinny jean; flattering, comfortable and good quality. Five years ago, I discovered Melbourne label Nobody Denim’s Cult skinny jean and have never looked back! Nobody Denim is accredited with Ethical Clothing Australia, which means everyone involved in making their clothing receives fair wages and are provided with safe working conditions. Check them out at nobodydenim and visit Ethical Clothing Australia to see if your favourite brand is accredited.
For fuss free basics, look no further than Sydney label Bassike. Bassike’s philosophy centres around high-end design with a commitment to sustainable manufacturing. The organic cotton tees are my absolute favourite for the weekend and are especially awesome for travel as they are easy care and compact, find these beauties at Bassike.
Finding a signature scent can be hard, not to mention the enternal maze of trying to find one without nasty harmful ingredients. Enter Lavanila The Healthy Fragrance, made with pure, natural and organic ingredients that are safe, non-toxic and non-irritating. My current scent is Vanilla Blackberry, I also love Vanilla Coconut because it smells like a tropical island and gets me reminiscing about my travels every time! Shop at Lavanila.
There’s no better way to dress up an outfit then with a red lip! How fantastic that the soulful Canadian brand Bite Beauty has taken healthy lip products mainstream. They have lipsticks, pencils and lip masks that are ‘healthy enough to eat’ but still provide long lasting high impact colour. My favourite is the Matte Crème Lip Crayon but I also recommend the Amuse Bouche if you’re a lipstick fan. You can pick these up at Bite Beauty.
The Raw Philosophy
Markets are a great place to find new innovative products that often haven’t yet gone mainstream. I found this Melbourne based skincare brand at the Canberra Handmade Markets last year. The brand’s face and body products are made using only 100% pure plant based and botanically derived ingredients to naturally nurture your skin. I use their lip and cuticle butter but their sugar scrubs are to die for. Hook yourself up with some deliciousness at The Raw Philosophy.
Erica Brooke Skin Care
We can’t talk beauty, fashion and scents without giving mention to an amazing Queensland brand that developed the ULIMATE safe, divine and natural deodorant that is so amaze it is now being exported to Asia. Deodorant crème by Erica Brooke skincare is perfect! It works, feels and smells incredible! Try it, Erica Brooke Skin Care.
Until next time, happy shopping!
